Buxton Gold Cup

Abandoned after Heat 16 - Rain
Buxton's drainage worked well to ensure the meeting went ahead despite the atrocious weather conditions which included a cloud burst.
The Gold Cup was run over 16 heats and after 2 rides each, only Buxton's Mark Steel and Sheffield's Andrew Moore were unbeaten. But when they met in Heat 12, Steel gated ahead of Smethills with Moore third.
James Mann led Heat 16 before Steel forced his way through and then the rain came down again and Referee Graham Flint had no option other than to abandon the rest of the meeting.
