For the second week running, the Hitmen hosted another club to rise from the ashes, Cradley Heath. Club Cradley had put together a useful looking side with plenty of Buxton experience, so a close match was anticipated. The Hitmen made one change to their team which beat Rye House, Richard Moss coming in for Aiden Collins who was in the Club Cradley line-up.
Mark Blackwell gave the Cradley fans something to shout about by winning the opening Heat but Burnett passed Jones for a drawn race.
Buxton took the lead when their reserves had a easy 5-1 in the next race against the two Heathens ho hadn't ridden at Buxton before.
Carl Wilkinson scorched to a very confident victory in Heat 3 over the useful home pair of Allott & Steel.
Heat 4 was a blow to Buxton as Jamie Young was forced very wide by Stephenson and fell. He picked up a leg injury which forced him to withdraw from the meeting. In the re-run, Stephenson won but it looked like a draw after Mann passed Barker but he spun on the 3rd turn and retired.
The Hitmen looked set for another 5-1 as Allott & Steel led Blackwell but Steel went too wide in turn three and Blackwell seized his chance to split the home pair.
Stephenson was excluded from the first running of Heat 6 after dumping Burnett on the track. The Buxton pair were cruising to a 5-1 in the re-run when Painter lapsed in concentration and fell.
Club Cradley were back in the match after the next Heat when Wilkinson & Collins took a maximum race win over Moss & Mann to bring the scores almost level.
In Heat 8 the Hitmen were on their way to reversing the previous race result but Moss, in second place to team mate Burnett, fell.
Heat 10 saw the good and bad sides of speedway racing. Burnett and Collins had a superb battle for the lead with Collins trying to get through. Unfortunately, Collins fell and his partner Wilkinson was unable to avoid his bike and crashed into it. He was thrown over the handlebars and sustaining a bad leg injury. Collins was excluded and Barker came in to replaced the injured Wilkinson but fell on the first lap to hand Buxton a 5-0.
Club Cradley brought Blackwell & Collins in as tac. subs. in Heat 12 but Moss passed Collins for third. On the next lap Moss fell and the visitors had a heat advantage.
The match was all but over in Heat 13 as Mann & Painter took a good win over Blackwell with Stephenson falling while third.
With two 5-1's needed for a draw, Club Cradley got the first one as sub Stephenson & Collins won from Mann. Race leader Allott had fallen when Stephenson put him under pressure with a hard charge into turn three.
Unfortunately for the large Cradley contingent, dreams were shattered as Burnett and Painter stormed from the tapes for a Hitmen 5-1 in the last Heat but the visiting fans weren't really bothered as their club was back on track and well done to those who made it happen.
