Any news or queries you may have, just E-Mail us at Office@hitmen.freeuk.com
Thurs November 25th ~ Glasgow have signed Aidan Collins for the 2000 season. With the Tigers racing on a Sunday, it looks like Aidan won't be seen at Hi-Edge next year.
Thurs September 23rd ~ Buxton have been ordered to re-run their Cup semi-final away at Newport, despite being handed the tie by the home club. This seems hardly fair as Buxton were on their way to winning on the day and just two more races had to be run before a result could be declared. No doubt Newport will use all their available Premier League riders this time to ensure that they don't lose.
Sun September 19th ~ Today's Gold Cup meeting has been postponed due to the bad weather.
Sat September 11th ~ Today's Cup Semi-Final has been abandoned due to damage to Newport's safety fence. With Buxton leading 34-26, the Mavericks have conceded the match and Buxton will face St Austell in the Final.
Tues September 7th ~ Adam Allott has a League Championship Winners medal as he has helped Sheffield to the Premier League title with their away win on the Isle of Wight.
Tues August 17th ~ Disappointment for the Hitmen in the Conference League Riders' Championship held at Mildenhall at the weekend. Our representatives were Neil Painter and Paul Burnett but neither threatened to take the title as they both finished on 5 points each. The winner was Jonathan Swales of Linlithgow with Mildenhall's Steve Camden in second and Linlithgow's Steve Jones third.
Sun August 1st ~ Today's meeting against Mildenhall was abandoned after 14 heats due to an unfit track. We are not sure if the result will stand as the Hitmen were leading 43-40 at the time. The match against Rye House, which should have followed, was postponed.
Sat July 31st ~ The Hitmen should have pulled off an away win in the Youth Development League last night as they drew 18-18 at Belle Vue. An old favourite of the Hitmen returned to help them out as they were without Neil Painter and Richard Moss. Paul Macklin was back to his usual form with 2 wins and 2 falls. His first fall was when leading and the other was most costly as he was on a match winning 5-1 with partner Paul Burnett at the time. Hitmen scorers ;- Paul Burnett 9+1 (4 rides), Paul Macklin 6 (4), Darren Hartley 2+1 (2), Lee Howard 1 (2)
Sat July 24th ~ Four of the lads took part in the Wake-Smith Junior Championship at Sheffield on Thursday. Lee Smethills topped the scoring with 15 points, Adam Allott scored 14, Aidan Collins got 7 and Mark Steel only managed 6. Despite being defeated by Lee in the heats, Adam won the Grand Final with Lee in second.
Mon June 28th ~ Some of the Hitmen had a busy weekend as they were up in Scotland where we thrashed Linlithgow 67-23 and then Neil, Paul and Mark made the long trip to Mildenhall on the Sunday to ride for Club Cradley Heath. Neil scored 7+3 from 5 rides, Paul and Mark both scored 7+1 from 4 as they helped the Heathens win 47-41
Fri June 25th ~ After scoring paid 4 at Reading, Adam Allott added 5+2 from three completed rides (1 EF) in the reverse fixture at Sheffield. News from Belle Vue is that Lee Smethills has agreed to ride for the Hitmen.
Tues June 22th ~ Adam Allott scored 2+2 from 3 rides for Sheffield in their win at Reading last night.
Sun June 20th ~ The Hitmen will be at home to Linlithgow in the Knockout Cup on Sunday July 18th. The away leg is next Saturday June 26th.
Sat June 12th ~ Neil Painter made his debut for Newcastle in the Premier League, scoring 1 point at Sheffield. There is talk of him signing for them as reserve.
Adam Allott continues his fine form as he scored a three ride maximum for the Owlerton Prowlers in the Youth Development League at Sheffield. Also in the match against Newcastle were Daniel Hodgson (2 pts & 2 falls for Newcastle) and one of our old boys, Simon Tawlks who scored 1 and had two EF's for Sheffield, sorry, Owlerton.
Sun June 6th ~ Following the postponement of next Sunday's trip to face Rye House, the Hitmen have arranged a home meeting. It will be a 4 team match against Belle Vue, Coventry and Club Cradley Heath.
Sat May 29th ~ Hitmen in action during the week included James Mann (9 pts - 7th) and Mark Steel (5 pts from 2 rides) in the 'Stars of Tomorrow' meeting at Reading and Adam Allott made his Premier League debut for Sheffield scoring 2+1 from 3 rides against Exeter.
Tues May 25th ~ Although he has agreed to ride for Cradley Heathens, Buxton skipper Neil Painter will not turn out for them on Sunday. As captain, he will lead the Hitmen against a side which will include Neil's new team mate Aidan Collins.
Mon May 24th ~ Despite Stoke running on Sunday evening, the Buxton meeting with Cradley Heath goes ahead at 3.00pm as they say it is too late to change arrangements at short notice. Many are keeping fingers crossed that things go well as they hope to attend both meetings.
Thurs May 13th ~ Our Youth development team were heavily beaten at Sheffield, losing 30-6. The only good point was Adam Allott scored a nine point maximum for the home team. Buxton scorers were Neil Painter 3 (4 rides), Paul Burnett 2 (3), Lee Howard 1 (3) and Richard Moss 0 (2).
Wed May 12th ~ Mark Steel scored 13 points, at King's Lynn in their 'Stars of Tomorrow' meeting to finish in second place. The winner was 35-year-old King's Lynn Braves skipper Peter Boast, who also rides for Sheffield in the Premier League.
